Summary
The industrial revolution began in western Europe in the late 1700s. The trend grew to the North America and the rest of Europe next, and soon spread to most places around the world. Industrialization refers to the process of societies moving from agricultural societies into industrial ones. The main features in this process were technological and organizational changes. Technological advancements allowed for goods to be made by machines instead of people. These things led to increase in population, especially in urban areas. More and more people moved to urban areas to work in factories. Men, women, and children worked long, hard hours in poor working conditions. The industrial revolution shaped the lives we have today.
